Midgard was a region of Halfast settled during the Ninth Era.
The district had a twenty kilometer border and was known for its narrow biomes and extensive cave systems.
History[]

Boiled Rice and Jrod arrive at Skyloft Palace in Midgard
On 9E:1, HyperSilence invited residents to return to Halfast and explore the unspoiled wilderness of a new land known as Midgard.
Absurd became the opening casualty of the Ninth Era and Jrod mined its inaugural diamond, while Boiled Rice was the earliest to obtain elytra wings. Jrod drew first blood from an enemy by killing Lex, the beginning of a streak of mayhem that would leave Lex with dozens of deaths but in possession of Jrod's elytra, an outcome both were satisfied with. Gabault, Alec, and Jrod slayed the ender dragon Aeriax on 9E:2 and claimed its egg for Eternal Chaos. AKVothe was the earliest to construct a beacon and upgrade it to full strength.
Boiled Rice discovered the first Hyper Dungeon on Halfast, a Hyper Mansion that he mistook for a regular woodland mansion. With some difficulty, he managed to retrieve its treasure with the help of Jrod on 9E:8. Alec later discovered and raided the first Crystal Dungeon on 9E:250.

On 9E:18, ethereum was introduced as the official currency of Halfast to be redeemed for items in the Midgard Markets.
Over time, the broadcasting of death coordinates over Discord proved a boon to claim-raiders, allowing them to locate and scavenge abandoned properties for valuables such as beacons and elytra.
Over time, the aggressive dominance of Eternal Chaos, a lack of organized events, and the offworld activities of many residents caused activity in Midgard to dwindle to historic lows. Even the discovery of massive interconnected cave systems and large ore veins was not enough to drive people to return.

Jrod finished first in the leaderboard for Midgard Survivor, but the competition never officially started so no prizes were awarded.
On 9E:253, the monstrous world serpent Jörmungandr emerged from the deepest ocean trench on Halfast, sending thousand meter tsunamis crashing across Midgard causing flooding as far inland as the Eternal Depths. The protective seals of the golden shovel immediately failed which led to widespread looting, but as Midgard sank beneath the seas its remaining populace made for the unsullied shores of Asphodel.

Behind the Scenes[]
The following is out-of-universe information about real-world Halfast.
"I thought I should add, the name of the new map is called "Midgard" | ||

Residents arrive in Midgard for the first time
Midgard was Halfast's second map, hosted from July 30, 2021 to April 8, 2022. It ran on Java Edition 1.18.2.
The name was a reference to Norse mythology, where Midgard was the mortal realm where humanity resided, and later served as the inspiration for Middle-earth, the setting in J.R.R. Tolkien's fantasy epic The Lord of the Rings.
HyperSilence assigned Sharkberries, LaplaceCircus, Sleekit, Jinx, and Tox to a build team responsible for building the map spawn, but he chose instead to use Skyloft Palace, a prebuilt schematic modified to fit the server's needs.
Upon a suggestion from Tox, when a player died their coordinates were publicly broadcast to the entire server, causing each death to be a race for dropped loot and making it difficult to keep bases hidden.
Top Survivor was planned to return as a competition, but the plugin never left the beta testing phase and so Midgard Survivor remained unofficial and no prizes were ever awarded.
The server spawn was initially at the town of Koan, but in preparation for the public grand opening of Halfast, Sharkberries collaborated with HyperSilence in designing a new spawn known as the Fish Bowl.
