Hyper Dungeons were ancient structures scattered across Dragonhollow and used by Eris and her Priesthood to test the valor, ingenuity, and skirmishing abilities of her subjects.
They bore the name of their architect, the Archpriest HyperSilence.
Raiders had to battle deadly unique enemies in order to acquire the dungeon's valuable loot. In most cases, these areas were not protected by the divine magic of Eris, so adventurers were able to both place and remove blocks and devise innovative strategies to conquer them.
By the Sixth and Seventh Eras, Hyper Dungeons had become the most common method by which residents obtained beacons.

In the early days of the First Era, Eris envisioned community events in which her residents would compete against each other in dangerous obstacle courses where enemy mobs roamed free. The first realization of the concept was the Dragon Temple, a parkour featuring jumping puzzles patrolled by ghasts and zombie pigmen.
In the Fourth Era, the Archpriest HyperSilence revealed a series of treasure-filled dungeons in the Summerlands for his Dungeon Quest event. Ancient texts discovered within the dungeons seemed to indicate that some of them predated the First Era, meaning that HyperSilence simply repurposed them towards his own ends.
Retro was the first to discover a dungeon when he accidentally found the Guardian Trench and raided it on 4E:356.
Eris hid the only elytra of the Badlands inside her Skeleton Den dungeon in the closing days of the Fourth Era.
On 5E:101, Hyper announced the existence of a second Dungeon Quest as part of festivities surrounding the completion of the Frostburn Gate that allowed access to Wyvern Pointe and Outer Pandora.
In the Sixth Era, hundreds of Hyper Dungeons appeared above Hallowmere. Unlike previous iterations, these dungeons were not unique and contained similar layouts and several variations of enemies. They were extremely dangerous, being nigh-impossible to clear and causing many fatalities. Many adventurers attempted to bypass the enemies altogether and harvest their beacons from relative safely.
Such dungeons were also found scattered across the Hammerlands during the Seventh Era, bearing modified cross-sections altered by the Hegemon Retro so that it was more difficult to reach their valuable beacons and treasure. The return of a pickaxe capable of harvesting spawners offered adventurers the intriguing possibility of acquiring their spawners for use elsewhere.
Hyper Dungeons appeared on Halfast in the Ninth Era.

Hyper Dungeons were the brainchild of HyperSilence, who desired to give experienced players something more challenging—and rewarding—to do in the Summerlands. At the time, they were unique and had to be manually placed by Hyper. They eventually became a staple of the server. With the addition of the Biome Bundle plugin, Hyper Dungeons became naturally generating structures infinitely available to all players determined enough to find and conquer them.
