The DDoS Edge was a diamond sword of the First Era, part of the DDoS Protection Pack.
With the supernatural reality distortions of the World Warp causing death and the loss of valuables across the Lakelands, Eris announced on 1E:56 that the DDoS Protection Pack would be made available to all residents who visited Lakeview Town Hall.
The flagship item of the pack was the DDoS Edge, a blade specifically enchanted to knockback people and monsters in case of future time-shifts, buying its wielder a few precious seconds to reach safety.
It was extraordinary popular with the majority of Dragonhollow's population, especially for newcomers and the poor who lacked a diamond weapon. However, many experienced warriors avoided it because the strong knockback actually made it harder for them to quickly kill their targets.
Though the DDoS Edge was only available for two days, many dozens entered circulation and saw heavy action. Hobo used his to knock an unsuspecting MaccaMan from the walkways of his own treehouse, causing him to fall to his death. Ebonblade always carried his DDoS Edge.
The sword was on display as an exhibit at the Lakelands Museum.
DDoS stood for “Dragonhollow Destroyed our Stuff”, a reference to the deleterious effects of the World Warp.

Out-of-universe, the DDoS stood for Distributed Denial-of-Service, a form of cyber warfare in which the attacker attempts to “deny” access to a system or network through the use of large amounts of traffic from many different sources, making it extraordinarily difficult to stop.
The item set was a mea culpa from Acey after Dragonhollow was affected by a serious DDoS attack that rendered the server nearly unplayable, though the fault lay with the company that provided hosting.
